ARTIFACT DESCRIPTION
The final artifact is a portrait for a character, with facial animation. This character needs a series of concept for costume design, and one of them will be made in 3D model. In order to create a portrait style, the light imitates Rembrandt painting skills based on his oil painting. The scene is presented in Unreal Engine 4 version 4.22.3.
Costume Design
Story can help me create the character concept and have a direct direction on research the style or textures for the costume. In my imagination for the character, she is an aristocracy who live in Paris and dress up at night and fight against the villain.

I researched on French Fashion and Victoria style dress and combine them with fantasy element. Found reference for creating the game mesh for costume. Researched how to create textures for the costume and keep the oil painting style.

Rembrandt light
Rembrandt lighting is characterized by an illuminated triangle under the eye of the subject on the less illuminated side of the face. It is named for the Dutch painter Rembrandt, who often used this type of lighting.

Set up
Rembrandt lighting is a lighting technique that is used in studio portrait photography. It can be achieved using one light and a reflector, or two lights, and is popular because it is capable of producing images which appear both natural and compelling with a minimum of equipment.
In Rembrandt’s day, there were few ways to illuminate your subject. One could paint outside where the lighting was most abundant, but weather was a factor, or in a studio that needed adequate window light or suitable artificial ambiance. Tonal range and color quality indicate the majority of Rembrandt’s subjects were painted inside under oil lamps or candlelight.
Sample of how to set the light
In most cases, when the perfect angle of reflection from Rembrandt’s key light was achieved, a small patch of triangular highlight, which is known as the “Golden Triangle”, would appear under the subject’s eye, situated opposite from the light source.
Rembrandt light can create mystery atmosphere and make the people in his portrait alive. His special way of lighting can help viewer focus on the face of the character. I want to setup my final render as a portrait, which means the material should look like oil painted. Moreover, I want to make an efficient pipeline. Different character can achieve similar visual effect and we do not need to hand paint those oil painting details for each character. In other word, any PBR character can became oil painting style character. In order to achieve this art effect I used Kuwahara filter.
